About me

Before specializing in UX, I worked as a web designer and front-end developer. That's why I design in systems, not screens. I think about components, states, and edge cases, but also about documentation, workflows, and how design operates across teams.

I'm just as comfortable presenting to clients and aligning with business goals as I am working with engineers. The result: designs teams can build, decisions stakeholders trust, and products that scale with consistency.

(As a human)

Curious is my default setting, and it shows up in many places. Languages are one of them. I speak and sing in Portuguese, Spanish, English and Galician. I've also studied French and Hebrew, I scrape by in Italian, and I'm back to the Japanese I started as a kid.

When I'm not working, I'm usually out looking at things: posters on street walls, a film in a cinema, a cultural event I wandered into. I'll stop mid-walk for a sunset, and lose a whole afternoon in a food market or an antiques fair.

I like things made slowly by someone who cared, so I make a few myself. I stitch by hand, and I always carry a notebook and a pen for drawing, scribbling ideas and scrapbooking.

I love reading, collecting books, and getting lost in bookshops and libraries, especially the ones full of old books. I'm crazy about editorial design: the layout, the type, the paper.

I travel whenever I can, and I like to live inside other cultures and ways of life. I go out of my way for contemporary art museums and places that aren't on the usual list. Based in Salvador, London, Santiago de Compostela, and every city left me a favorite corner, a dish and a few words I still use.

I lift weights, dance contemporary and do yoga. On spring and autumn weekends you'll find me walking stages of the Camino de Santiago.

I'm also a volunteer mentor on ADPList, helping people from all over the world find their way into tech and grow once they're in. I always leave those calls having learned something too.

  1. Books for the grammar, Japanese reality shows and cinema for the ear.
  2. Dark room, big screen, phone off. Original language, always.
  3. Drawing, embroidery, sewing. If it involves my hands, I'm in.
  4. The older the library, the better. Extra points for stairs that lead nowhere.
  5. Best trips: the ones I can explore on foot.
  6. One stage at a time, never the whole thing at once.
  7. Different countries, different paths, and it always comes back to the same thing: people.
